Things To Think About Before Placing Personal Ads

Remember how we told you to write down your wish list a while back? Well, when you place personal ads, be it on the internet or anywhere else, it's important to remember that it should be your wish list. At the end of the day it's your relationship so your wish list shouldn't be written to make your friends or family happy - it's to make you happy. You're the one who has to live with your partner - not your family or friends!

There can sometimes be a danger of creating a wish list that is too demanding. There are thousands of people that read personal ads or use dating services every day but if you are exceptionally demanding then it's very likely that you'll exclude some great people along the way.

You want a good response to the personal ads that you place so you need to be realistic and get your priorities straight before you place the ads. Most people who are either successfully married or in a long-term relationship aren't with exactly the sort of person they thought they'd end up with. That's not important. What is important is that they found someone who they are happy with by being reasonably open-minded. Just because someone doesn't completely match your preconceived idea of your perfect partner doesn't mean that you won't be happy together, or that you preconceived idea were necessarily right! They will usually bring other characteristics to the relationship that you'd probably never even thought of.

If we had to write down in one sentence our recommendations for placing personal ads it would be, "Be positive, have some self-belief, consider who you are and the type of person you would like to be with, be open-minded, and most of all, be totally honest."
